The 60-Second Oral Warm-Up to Do Every Day This Week
Five days to the oral window. Here is the highest-value habit for this final stretch — a 60-second warm-up that keeps your speaking voice ready without adding stress. Do it once a day, any time.
The 60-second drill
- 20 seconds: read anything aloud — a headline, a message, a cereal box. Wake up your articulation.
- 20 seconds: answer one question out loud: “Should students have part-time jobs?” View, then one reason. Don’t polish — just speak.
- 20 seconds: extend it. “That said…” or “In the long run…” — one sentence that pushes the idea further.
That’s it. Sixty seconds, once a day, and on exam day your mouth won’t be starting cold. The students who freeze in orals are almost never the ones who lack ideas — they’re the ones who haven’t spoken their ideas aloud recently.
