PSLE Oral: The Four-Part Answer in Sixty Seconds
The most common PSLE Oral problem is not wrong answers. It is short ones. This is the shape that fixes it, in a minute.
The four parts
What each part does
View
What you think. One sentence, committed. No sitting on the fence.
Reason
Why you think it. Begins with because.
Personal experience
A time it happened to you or someone you know. This never runs out — which is why it is the lifeline when your mind goes blank.
Extension
One wider thought. What it means for other people, or what happens next. This is what makes an answer sound mature.
What extension is, and is not
Extension means stretching outward, not repeating yourself. If the topic is litter in a park, extension is not “I also saw litter at the beach”. It is “if people see litter already there, they are more likely to add to it” — a thought about why the problem continues.
That single move is often the difference between a competent answer and a thoughtful one.
How to practise
Three questions a night, five nights a week. Every answer in four parts, even when it feels forced — especially when it feels forced. After about sixty answers the shape stops being a checklist and becomes how your child talks about a topic.
Themed question banks with model answers and word banks.
